To monitor NFS volume usage

Hi

Can we monitor NFS file/volume usage in SL1, if so which powerpack we can use. Kindly suggest.

Regards,

  • Hello Sunny,

Assuming you are leveraging the Data Collection: Host Filesystem Inventory process, which is our internal filesystem collection process, you can navigate to the System > Settings > Behavior page and uncheck the option NFS Detection Disable. This will allow the NFS drives to be discovered by SL1.

If you are using a specific, non-ICDA dynamic app to discover the filesystems, then we will need to know which dynamic app you are using to see if NFS drives can be discovered and monitored via that specific PowerPack.

  • If you're looking to see the usage of the entire volume, the internal collection of SL1 can do so. The volumes show up as a file system in the device. The default way for this to work is to use SNMP for monitoring the device. If SNMP is enabled, the file systems tab will be populated. If you're using Linux, Windows, AIX, or Solaris, you can use the PowerPack for that. It will use either SSH (Linux, AIX, Solaris) or PowerShell (Windows) to do collections and will also fill in the file system tab.

If you're looking to monitor specific files, you may need to create a custom dynamic application using SL1 Studio.

  • Can you be a little more specific on which vendor specific NFS are you referring to? You must have seen our PowerPack catalog, is there any particular technology or vendor you are interested in?
